Other options displayed in the settings include the button Always on display (for iPhone 14 Pro) and night mode (night mode). When the former is activated, it automatically deactivates the sleep function when you’re away and activates it when you’re near and detects your presence.
Sleep mode turns on automatically when iPhone detects a dark room. This mode turns the displayed widgets and content into a red hue, making it more relaxing for the eyes with reduced blue light levels.
On the same screen you will find the option to enable the wake up actionwhich functions similarly to the option always online exhibit But night mode is integrated.
Standby Mode Apps and Widgets
Function the day before or support Apple currently works with a range of first-party apps and widgets, all rendered in landscape orientation. Third-party apps are expected to be added after the official release of iOS 17.
However, not all of these apps come with customizable widgets and don’t support live activity. The latter is another thing that is overwritten while active in the background. Clicking it will open the full view of the activity.
Another nice feature of StandBy is widget suggestions, which adapt to your iPhone’s position.
For example, if you take your iPhone into the kitchen and start charging it, you’ll be presented with a different widget or layout. Likewise, if you use StandBy in the office, it gives you related widgets, such as a calendar.

Standby Mode: Compatible iPhone and iPad models
The new Standby feature is compatible with iPhones running iOS 17. That is the iPhone XR and iPhone XS and newer models, up to the iPhone 14 series and the iPhone SE (2022) with the connected screen mode loaded.
Sleep mode isn’t yet supported on the Apple iPad, which is surprising since the larger screen is better suited for this feature. It’s unclear if Apple plans to introduce sleep mode on iPads in the final version of iPadOS 17 or later.
