Killzone’s shelving doesn’t mean PlayStation is done with its FPS investment. You certainly have to be a fan of virtual reality, but since the second episode was developed to take advantage of what the new generation of PS5 headsets has to offer, Firewall will be a franchise as a result. Gone are the plastic rifles or the aging PS Move, we’re told, Firewall Ultra was developed for the PS VR2 Sense controller and will support gaze detection, including intuitive weapon switching.
Technically, the game (which takes place five years after its predecessor) will logically be prettier and sharper in 4K HDR, knowing that First Contact Entertainment has redesigned all the characters as well as the cards that were already in the previous episode. Of course that also includes new locations, contractors and equipment, as well as a redesigned PvP mode and a new PvE experience.
Another good news is that online games will be played on dedicated servers. “We also added rounds to the game. To win, you need to win two of the three rounds. Plus, we got a whole new PvE experience. Also prepare for post-launch content such as new contractors, as well as new maps and weapons“, we can read on the PlayStation Blog.
Firewall Ultra joins PS VR 2 games like Horizon Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil Village, No Man’s Sky or The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners 2.
