Arlo has quietly updated its catalog of smart outdoor security cameras with the introduction of the Arlo Ultra 2 XL and Pro 4 XL Spotlight. Both models offer exceptional battery life of up to a year and the same wireless connectivity and weather resistance as the non-XL models.
- These security cameras are designed for the outdoors
- Both XL models offer up to one year of battery life
- The camera can be used with or without a subscription
The only difference between the non-XL and XL models is the battery. According to Arlo, the Ultra 2 XL and Pro 4 XL models last for a year on a single charge. When the battery is depleted, it can be charged inside the camera, or it can be removed and charged outside. There is also a solar charging option.
In terms of recording capabilities, the Ultra 2 XL is equipped with two microphones and an 8 MP sensor, which provides 4K video recording and a 180-degree focal length view. Unlike the Pro 4 XL’s single sensor and microphone, it also has dual motion sensors. The more expensive Ultra variant also benefits from Bluetooth 4.2 and faster Wi-Fi.
The non-Ultra model has a 4MP sensor and captures video at 2K resolution, but has a narrower 160-degree field of view. It has no Bluetooth connectivity and its Wi-Fi module is limited to b/g/n.
