Google Translate lets you quickly translate text or speech on your Android smartphone. In this tutorial, kwgeek shows you how to use the Google Translate widget to make your text translation more convenient.
The Google Translate widget is not a new app feature and is available on most current devices running at least Android 5. Instead of using a simple app shortcut on your smartphone’s home screen, you can open the app directly in the apps you use most. Use features like dictation translation, real-time voice translation, and real-time text translation.
To add the Google Translate widget to your smartphone’s home screen, follow these simple steps:
- Long press on an empty area on your smartphone’s home screen.
- Choose an option small parts
- scroll down until you see widgets translate
- select widget Translate Quick Actions and add it to your home page.

Thanks to this widget, you will have several shortcuts to many of the functions available on the Google Translate app. For example, translations can be quickly obtained from copied text snippets by simply going to the home screen and pressing the clipboard icon on the widget.
The icons at the bottom will depend on the size of the widget and the characteristics of the smartphone. On the Pixel 6, you’ll be able to find the following options:
- Voice translation.
- Real-time conversation translation.
- (Near) real-time transcription in real time.
- Instant translation via camera.
