Our free app of the day is QR Barcode Scanner Pro. The app for scanning QR codes and barcodes is currently free on the Google Play Store instead of 2.19 euros.
Why is this free app worth buying?
There are tons of QR code scanner apps in the app stores, but most free options offer only basic functionality or a lot of ads, and some even contain misleading content. That’s where today’s limited-time deal comes in handy.
QR and Barcode Scanner PRO by Apps360 (not to be confused with tons of other apps of the same name) is the swiss army knife of QR code apps, with tools to not only scan but also create QR codes and regular barcodes. All this without ads or in-app purchases. The app provides options to create QR codes for business cards (VCard), URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, email addresses and other types of contact information.
You can create other types of graphical codes, including barcodes in various encoding formats – Codabar, Code 39/93/128, EAN 8/13, UPC A/E, ITF – and other 2D matrices: Aztec, PDF 417 and Data Matrix (sorry HCCB and MaxiCode fans…).
The app includes a history feature and offers content-aware options to interact with QR codes / © kwgeek
Personally, the most interesting feature on QR and Barcode Scanner PRO is the tabs historicalwhich stores previously scanned codes, giving you quick access to long-viewed content, such as Wi-Fi connections and business cards.
From the History tab and scan results screen, you can interact with the code in a number of ways, including copying the content to the clipboard, sharing it directly with a contact, or simply saving an image of the code in your phone’s gallery .
Does this free app respect your personal data?
The app has very positive reviews on the Google Play Store, with an average rating of 4.6 stars after more than 17,000 reviews and 500,000 downloads. As for the negatives, some might argue that the interface is dated, but on the other hand, everything is easy to read and reach, there’s even a dark mode option…
According to Exodus’ privacy tool, App360’s QR and Barcode Scanner PRO includes two trackers from Google for bug reporting and analysis. The 16 permissions required may seem like a lot, but they are consistent with using the app.
