Like every weekend, we meet at kwgeek as I pick 5 free or paid mobile apps and games that caught my eye on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Every week I try to bring you the best apps that aren’t personal data traps or microtransaction dens. For my own findings, I’ve also added applications that the kwgeek community unearthed and shared on our forums, which I invite you to check out.
From mobile games to productivity apps, here are 5 free and paid Android/iOS apps from kwgeek this week. We post this pick every week, and you can also check out my 5 apps from last week.

Link Tree (Android and iOS)
Linktree is a digital and enhanced business card for online content creators. Basically, if you write, draw, create, photograph content, it’s a way for you to integrate all your social networks to highlight your content.
The app offers a paid subscription to unlock more visual customization options, but the free version is enough on its own. I really recommend that you only link your “public” or professional networks to it, as the app collects a lot of data. The interface is very clean and Linktree contains no ads.
- Price: Free / Ads: No / In-App Purchases: Yes (€3.99 to 21.99 per month) / Account: Required / French: No

Random Walk (Android)
The app includes blindly following the cursor while walking to discover random spots or points of interest.
The basic idea is interesting. But the app lacks some improvements. The cursor should be more precise, like a map, it doesn’t really allow you to see where you’re going, which can be dangerous if you keep your eyes on the screen.
But I really wanted to test out the experience this weekend and go for a walk in total randomness. I’d love to know how the app recognizes different points of interest, especially how it presents them to you. The app is free with no ads or in-app purchases.
- Price: Free / Ads: No / In-App Purchases: No / Account: Not Required / French: No

Aquafy (Android)
Aquafy is a health app that allows you to track hydration and remind you to drink water when necessary. You can record each drink and specify the amount and type of fluid intake.
You can create your hydration profile, program reminders to remember to hydrate yourself and access the entire stats section. The app is free but contains very few ads, which you can get rid of with a subscription fee of €6.99 per year.
I don’t know about you, but I… *gurgling*… ah. I love water, and after 20, 30 years, there will be no water. So stay hydrated!
- Price: Free / Ads: Yes / In-App Purchases: Yes (€6.99 per month) / Account: Not required / French: No

Birthday Reminder and Calendar (Android)
This app allows you to create reminders for your loved ones’ birthdays. Yes, yes, I know. You can directly do exactly the same thing that this app offers on its Google Calendar.
But the app also allows you to create a profile for each birthday, enter gift ideas, and even call someone on D-day or send him a card directly from the app.
I found the interface to be very good, and although the developer specified that there are ads and offers to get rid of them with the pro version (one-time purchase) of 4.79 euros, I didn’t notice anything during my short use.
- Price: Free / Ads: Yes / In-App Purchases: Yes (€4.79) / Account: Not required / French: No

GWENT: Rogue Mage (Android & iOS)
In The Witcher 3 game, Gwent (or Gwent in English) is a strategy card game similar to Yu-Gi-Oh!! Or Magic Gathering, where you must align cards with images of warriors, beasts, and other elements drawn from the wizard’s fantasy world to eliminate your opponent’s cards.
At its core, it’s in-game mini-games, but it’s become so popular among players that a real community has formed around Gwent.
And I know I’ll piss off purists, but as much as I love The Witcher 3 and spend hundreds of hours on it, I’ve always hated Gwent. Lack of patience, brain cramps, this game is not for me. And it has to be said that the first PvP mobile game released by Gwynt a few years ago was a toxic micro-transaction den.
But maybe Gwent: Rogue Mage will make me reconcile with Gwent. This premium game costs €10.99, but has the benefits of a single-player game with a story mode and scenarios. The story takes place long before the era of Geralt, the wizard hero Rivia. And the gameplay relies on old Gwent mechanics that fans are familiar with.
- Price: € 10.99 / Ads: No / In-App Purchases: No / Account: Not required / French: Yes
