Apple is expected to show off the next-generation iPad powered by the recently announced Apple Silicon M2 SoC. However, a new rumor suggests that there’s another reason to keep an eye on the upcoming 2022 iPad Pro, aside from its strong specs.
- Apple may launch a larger 14-inch 2022 iPad Pro
- New iPad Pro models may feature new SoC M2
- The 11″, 12.9″ and 14″ iPad Pros should arrive after the iPhone 14
You should take this latest rumor with a pinch of salt, as it comes from a Twitter leaker with no solid track record. It claims that in addition to the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models, the Cupertino giant could add a 14-inch variant to this year’s iPad Pro lineup.

While it may seem odd at first, given that Apple may be looking to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra with its massive 14.6-inch display, the odds are high.
Larger tablets will also eventually close the gap between the MacBook and the iPad. Apple’s decision to upgrade iPadOS 16 to true multitasking also supports this idea. In addition, recent patent filings for the iPad-MacBook hybrid tablet make it clear that an Apple tablet with laptop functionality is imminent.

What will happen when the new iPads launch in fall 2022?
The 2022 12.9-inch iPad Pro will feature thinner bezels, while all iPad Pro models, including the 11-inch, will feature Apple’s new M2 SoC and options for increased RAM and storage.
As a little reminder of WWDC 2022, the new M2 chip offers 18 percent more CPU power and 35 percent more graphics performance than its predecessor.
After the iPhone 14 event, Apple may announce updates to the 11-inch and 12-inch iPad Pros later this year.
Do you think a 14-inch tablet makes sense?
