Apple will prepare two new iPad Pros, 16-inch and 14-inch. The new iPad Pro, possibly named Ultra, will run under an operating system that is closer to macOS than iOS. Apple could launch these new tablets as early as next year.
- 14-inch and 16-inch iPad Ultra could launch in 2023
- The new iPad will run under a special version of macOS
according to information, Apple will launch a new 16-inch iPad Pro by the end of 2023, in line with the iPad update cycle. Although not mentioned, there will also be a new 14-inch version.
It’s unclear whether Apple will continue to release the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros. But given its large user base for the current iPad Pro, we assume all four sizes will coexist, further blurring the line between iPad and MacBook.
The ultimate iPad Ultra
As for the name, the larger iPad Pro model will likely be labeled Ultra, as announced for the iPhone 15 Ultra. The new 14-inch and 16-inch iPad Ultra can be equipped with M2 Pro or M2 Max SoCs. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about Apple’s future high-end SoCs.
These rumors are backed up by the fact that Apple may soon release a dedicated version of macOS for the iPad. The new operating system should support office applications and also work with touchscreens. It was mentioned that all iPad Pros in 2022 will be updated to the new operating system.

In terms of price, it’s too early to predict the price of the 14-inch and 16-inch iPad Ultra. But given the price of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in 2022, we can certainly expect a higher price, similar to the price of a high-end MacBook Pro.
What do you think of the idea of having a 16-inch iPad Ultra? Will you buy?
