According to a new report from analyst Mark Gurman, Apple may unveil its first mixed reality headset with a powerful M2 chip. The headset is expected to debut early next year and will run Reality OS or rOS as mentioned in multiple leaks.
- Apple’s first MR headset may feature an M2 chip and 16GB of RAM
- Headsets may be able to provide virtual and enhanced experiences
- Apple is expected to release the headphones in January 2023
According to a new report from Mark Gurman, the as-yet-unnamed AR/VR headset will be a beast in terms of image processing and graphics capabilities.reporter from Bloomberg Said it could come with a new custom M2 processor, which is already found in Apple’s latest MacBook. It will also be associated with a huge 16 GB RAM.

Well-known leaker Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple’s MR headset will use the older M1 processor. Looking at the calendar, however, it’s still hard to believe that the Cupertino company will be eyeing its 2021 chipsets.
If Gurman’s information is confirmed, Apple’s AR/VR headset will sit on top of Meta’s Oculus Quest 2, which has only 6GB of RAM and a two-year-old Snapdragon XR2 chip. It remains to be seen how the Apple earphones will perform in the real world. Other potential specs for the device include a 4K OLED display, multiple cameras and eye-tracking technology that will provide an enhanced and virtual experience.
