Let’s start with some introductions: Arrowiz was founded in 2016 and initially focused on virtual reality (Beats Fever) before moving to narrative games (Hermitage: Strange Case Files). After securing big funding from Tencent, the Shanghai-based studio is determined to make a splash with Mato Anomalies, which will be available for download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and Steam next year. Thanks also to the Prime Matter label, which will be responsible for publishing, distribution, marketing and localization.
Mato Anomalies takes its name from the metropolis in which the story takes place, a neo-futuristic reinterpretation of old Shanghai that oscillates between traditional and futuristic architecture. Here, players will take on the role of two protagonists, private investigator Doe and exorcist Gram, as they investigate strange anomalies, which of course involve numerous dungeons and turn-based combat against the abomination from destruction. Doe and Gram will be joined by allies, whose trust and connections can be gained through chapters and discussions, and the release specifies a Persona-style social connection system.
“We can’t wait to share the game we’ve been working on for over two years. Our creative team imagined a deep story and a unique universe. More than 50 talents are involved in this project, excluding external partners. We are inspired by our partner Prime Matter who believes in our studio and our global visionwelcoming Arrowiz CEO Horace Xiong.
