We know that Christophe Gans is a huge fan of video games. He’s already spoken about his relationship with the media in numerous interviews this summer, including discussing the famous final battle between Samuel Le Buhan and Vincent Cassel, freely inspired by SoulCalibur. Our imaginations have been confirmed: the French director will be making a new film in the world of Silent Hill. In an interview with MaG – Movieand Game Media on YouTube, he discussed in detail his experience with the film Silent Hill, as well as his work with Konami.
“I worked with Konami and Silent Team only because they were co-producers on the film. They had the right to watch the adaptation I was working on for a new Silent Hill film, which is normal. Somehow it also Help them understand how Silent Hill has evolved. They know my dedication to Silent Hill. Like the last time we were on a video conference, they asked me why I thought about monster aesthetics this way. Every time I had an answer because Monsters are mind products, metaphorical, symbolic creatures, so they were curious to know how I got some of the looks of these creatures. It’s interesting because there are two creative teams working on the same universe completely independently , but at the same time exchanging messages. My respect for them, their respect for me, is because they really liked the first silent film, and it was a success. We knew each other, we liked each other, and everything went well.”
We learn he’s working on a second Silent Hill movie, so by the way, he’s reaching out to the Konami team that’s working on future games in the franchise. Because yes, these games do exist, according to him.
“At Konami, there are a few games, a few teams. There’s actually a whole set of games that they’re going to revive the franchise, and I think they’ve been impressed with the success of Resident Evil 2 and 3 (remakes), which It was amazing. They thought it was a good time to go back, just as my producers and I wanted to go back to Silent Hill. The two teams didn’t negotiate with each other and said it was time to go back.
