Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Released 19 years ago, it is one of the greatest PC multiplayer shooters of all time. Sadly, some younger readers may never have had the pleasure of playing it, since it was never released on Steam. until today!
Note that the game has always been available elsewhere – developer Splash Damage hosts it on their website and even made a guide showing you how to play it in modern times – but the Steam version has something, it has All the convenience and networking, and the buzz that comes with it, makes this even more exciting.
If you’ve never played it, this game was/is incredible, and that’s a big reason why people still care about this version nearly 20 years later. Set against the backdrop of World War II, the US side is pitted against the Germans, and it allows up to 32 players (16v16) who can then be divided into squads of four for better communication.

Communication is great, and the classes are nice and balanced, but the real highlight of this game is its maps. There’s a wonderful flow to them that needs to be done before everyone moves on to a new set of things to attack/defend, and the Seawall Turret (above) won’t just be in my all-time top 5 multiplayer In the list of maps, it will be very close to the top.
As for why the game is not yet on the shelves, who knows! You can speculate that its absence is because Zenimax has no interest in publishing and maintaining an ancient free-to-play game on the platform. Now that Zenimax (aka Bethesda) is doing great on Steam and releasing all their old games on the service, however, enemy territory also appeared.
