There was less than a decade between the release of the first Final Fantasy on Famicom and the release of Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation. It’s been over a decade since the release of Final Fantasy Versus XIII to the pinnacle of Final Fantasy XV. As we’ve seen before, this clearly shows the failure of Tetsuya Nomura’s project, first and foremost due to Square Enix’s failed generational transition in the PS3 era. But the publisher managed to get away with a job that likely fell into the graveyard of canceled games. At the heart of this endless project completion: Hajime Tabata, whose image symbolizes the changing times.
