According to recent leaks, Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S23, is supposed to introduce a new Isocell sensor in its 200 MP photo module.
- Samsung’s new 200MP Isocell HP3 sensor could be released this year
- The Galaxy S23 could be equipped with this new sensor and therefore a more efficient photo module
- The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are unlikely to have this sensor.
We’ve already seen what the massive 200MP ISOCELL HP1 will look like in a future Motorola flagship. Contrary to what people think, it won’t be at the cutting edge of technology. In fact, Samsung is currently working on another 200 MP primary sensor. Called the HP3, it should appear on the Galaxy S23 Ultra early next year.

What are the advantages of this 200 MP Isocell sensor from Samsung?
Like the HP1 sensor, the HP3 is said to use Samsung’s pixel binning technology, which combines multiple pixels into one to produce a brighter, sharper image. Having a large sensor also allows video to be made with higher resolution digital zoom. Enough to boost the performance of 8K video recording.

As of this writing, the Isocell HP3 sensor is said to be in pre-production. The highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are unlikely to benefit from this camera module upgrade. The slim, foldable designs of Galaxy Z devices keep them from having large sensors.

As far as Samsung is concerned, it is silent. There are no or hardly any leaks from the Korean company about the Isocell HP3. Since the HP1 was already unveiled last September, the Isocell HP3 is likely to be released in late summer or early fall.
