It was Sam Mobile who confirmed the information. According to a tech site dedicated to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be available in a 512 GB version, while the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be able to store up to 1 TB.
I think you’ve all noticed that expandable storage via microSD has been a thing of the past on high-end smartphones for a few years now. This is a pretty counterintuitive situation when you consider that flagships (these excellent tech flagships) are designed to consume a lot of multimedia content and shoot 10-bit photos and 4K video at 60 FPS.

The manufacturer’s magic solution is to offer multiple versions with different but non-expandable storage. For example, Samsung offers a Galaxy S22 Ultra variant with 1 TB of internal storage.

Logically, this increase in storage will lead to higher prices. It’s almost inevitable. Currently, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are priced at 1,109 euros for the 256 GB version and 1,899 euros for the 512 GB version. As far as we know, the 1 TB version of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is 512 GB larger than the variant (€1659 vs. €1459).
Therefore, we can expect a possible price hike for the 512 GB and 1 TB versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. As Sammobile clarified, Samsung should still keep the lower storage capacity to make its overpriced foldable smartphone nearly inaccessible.
What do you think of this choice from Samsung? Is lack of storage really a barrier to buying a foldable smartphone over €1000?
