Garmin Edge Explore 2: Key New Features in the New Bike Computer
The Garmin Edge Explore 2 features the same glove-friendly 3-inch touchscreen and IPX7 water resistance as the first-generation Edge Explore. However, the device is relatively lighter and thinner, and battery life has been improved. According to the manufacturer, the Edge Explore 2 can be used for up to 16 hours on a single charge, and even up to 24 hours with power saving mode enabled.
For navigation and riding, Galileo and GLONASS systems are now supported. You can also take advantage of the on-device location finder, as well as power heatmaps and Varia radar pairings. The barometric altimeter sensor enables additional training modes such as Climbpro ascent planner and VO2 max tracking via Garmin Connect’s Physio TrueUp.

Garmin’s new bike computer gets improved security and tracking with the addition of bike alerts and Find My Edge. For example, the app will be able to notify you when a parked bike is moved. Like Garmin smartwatches, personalized responses to messages and calls are available, but only for Android smartphones. Also, event detection and group real-time tracking remain.
Additionally, the Edge Explore 2 is now compatible with electric bikes using Shimano Steps or ANT+. This feature allows you to check the status of your e-bike, including range, assistance level and estimated remaining range.
