Currently in closed beta, Honkai: Star Rail is arguably the more advanced of the two projects. Expected to launch on PC, iOS and Android, the game will differentiate itself from Genshin Impact through its turn-based combat system and more sci-fi world. Players will board the Astral Express, a space train that will no doubt delight Leiji Matsumoto, and will travel between worlds, exploring dungeons and solving puzzles.
In a more action-oriented record, the recently announced Zenless Zone Zero also used the popularity of the Summer Games Festival to show off in front of audiences, not just fansJapanese animation. Also in PC and mobile development, the title relies on a nervous combat system in an urban fantasy setting. The action takes place in New Eridu, a city that not only escaped Armageddon, but thrives thanks to its technology that allows it to extract resources from the void, a phenomenon that originated in Armageddon.
Note that these two games will be free to play, and we can already imagine an economic model inspired by the global success of Genshin Impact, namely Gacha Based on random collection of attractive characters.
