Amazon has finally enabled the photo frame feature on all of its Echo Show displays. Previously available on the Echo Show 15, the photo frame allows users to display photos only on their connected display without forcing you to provide unwanted Alexa content and suggestions. What’s more, activating the feature only requires a simple command.
- Amazon photo frames are now available on all Echo Show smart displays
- Only one Alexa voice command is required to enable the feature
- The new mode can only work for up to three hours
All Echo Show screens can now get rid of those annoying Alexa skill ads. The new mode, which initially launched with the Echo Show 15, is similar to Google’s digital photo frame, which users of its Nest Hub have been using for a while. However, Amazon’s version should only run for three hours — at least initially.
Echo Show users can choose to select photos or personal albums through the photo display on the Alexa app. Additionally, the screen can be connected to an Amazon Photos or Facebook account. If you want to hide other photos that will be displayed randomly as a slideshow, you can individually select the preferred items that will be displayed in the last two options.
Two options for activating the photo frame on the Echo Show
Once set up, the Alexa voice command “Alexa, set up my frame” is required to activate the mode. Manual activation is also supported by swiping down from the top screen and selecting a frame. Eventually, the mode will run for three hours straight before reverting to the standard home screen view, which will feature Alexa ads and larger weather and calendar widgets.
Currently, Amazon Photo Frames are available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, the US and the UK. Amazon hasn’t said whether the feature will be added to Fire TV.
Do you think Amazon should extend the working hours of photo frames in the future?
