Apple is finally saying goodbye to its Lightning port, at least across its entire line of iPads. According to reliable sources, the most affordable iPad should get a major upgrade and come with a USB-C port and a larger screen.

Getting rid of the Lightning port is a priority for the company after the European Union decided to make USB-C the standard for electronics in the region by 2024. If the iPad 2022 receives a USB-C port, Apple will have the task of equipping the iPhone and its accessories with the aforementioned port.
2022 iPad with bigger screen and 5G support
Additionally, the 2022 iPad will feature a larger 10.5-inch display than the previous model. The current 9th-generation iPad features a 10.2-inch True Tone LED display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,620 pixels, while the 5th-generation iPad Air has an 11-inch screen.

As for the design, there’s no mention of whether there will be any changes, especially when it comes to the bezels. It would be a welcome change if Apple updated the iPad’s design with a more modern front panel, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8, with thinner edges.
Surprisingly, Apple is also rumored to include the A14 chip in the 2022 iPad, which will bring a faster SoC and better graphics performance, but it won’t match the Apple M1 in the 2022 iPad Air, and the SoC will eventually There will be support for 5G connectivity on entry-level tablets. We can also assume that the autonomy of the tablet will be improved.

When will the iPad 2022 be released?
After the iPhone 14 launch this fall, Apple will host a separate iPad/Mac event. The recently rumored 14-inch iPad Pro could arrive alongside an updated 2022 iPad and a slew of new Macs from the Cupertino company.
