Apple has traditionally maintained beta-stage device compatibility in stable releases of its operating system, which should guarantee security patches for these iPads at least until iPadOS 17 arrives in September 2023.

- 11-inch iPad Pro (1st, 2nd, 3rd generation)

A beta version is already available to app developers with compatible iPads and can be downloaded from Apple’s app developer website. The company announced that the public-facing beta will be available in July, but did not specify a date.
The final version of iPadOS has been released in fall 2022. If Apple continues its tradition of simultaneous releases with iOS 16, iPadOS 16 should be available in September.
Will you test the developer version, wait for the public beta, or just wait for the update to be released on your iPad?
