back edge The name of Sonos’ newest soundbar was revealed yesterday, the retailer accidentally posted images of the device, and the leak floodgates now appear to have opened. Twitter user Snoopy Tech has Shared some marketing shots Sonos Ray showcases the size and design of the upcoming product.
These images show the Ray in black and white, and provide a higher-quality peek into the soundbar’s design. Similar to the Arc and Beam, the Ray’s plastic front grille is heavily perforated.

On the back are the connect buttons, power, optical and ethernet – confirm borderline It was previously reported that the Ray did not include HDMI eARC support. It will plug into the TV using a fiber optic connection.

The back of the Ray also has what looks like mounting holes. Sonos designed the soundbar to mount horizontally, but it can also be mounted vertically. In the latter case, a pair of Rays can be used as surround backs for other Sonos soundbars such as the Arc or Beam. When used in this configuration, the Ray will be able to receive and play Dolby Atmos surround audio, but the soundbar only supports Dolby Digital when used alone.

Sonos expects to release the Sonos Ray for $249 in the next few weeks, with a release date in early June. The company also plans to launch its own voice-controlled service in the near future, with a focus on privacy and responsiveness.
