rule change

two majors lol The rule changes are being implemented through patch 3.6, improving gameplay while opening up space for new mechanics.
Burst/Pass
since launch lol, the player can choose to end the round after the opponent has completely passed without taking action. This will be changed in patch 3.6 to “If your opponent passes after using only a burst or concentration spell, you can now end the round.”
According to Riot, the changes to Burst/Pass are aimed at making higher-stakes decisions late in the game, keeping game flow consistent, and reducing unnecessary passes from players.
Fusion Mechanism Cast and Play
61 in total lol Cards with a “cast” mechanic will now synergize and merge with the “play” mechanic. A “play” is when a card leaves the player’s hand onto the stack or enters the game through the battlefield. Now when you “play” a card, the card with “cast” will trigger, locate and activate.
This change is intended to improve the gameplay of heroes like Lux and Heimerdinger, while making room for new mechanics. According to Riot, this tweak will also increase the utility of slowing spells.
Visual User Experience Update
Image via Riot Games
this lol The team added five UX updates in Patch 3.6 to improve the visual clarity of what’s happening during the game.
- stack clarity: If the deck is on the deck, the board visuals will clarify any unresolved moves and which player started the deck.
- Attacker and Blocker Indicators: Sword and shield icons will indicate units that can attack or block.
- Turning Gems and Button Naming: “OK” and “End turn” blue buttons are being fixed. Added two gems to indicate round status. If the gem is lit, it means that the player on that side has taken an action. If both gems are lit, the action is resolved or the round ends. The button has also been relabeled to show the name of what’s going on.
- attacker chevron: If the attack would hit the opponent’s Nexus, it will have a red, pointed indicator. This goes away if the attacker is blocked or the power is reduced to zero.
- Clearer Spectre Interceptor: Ghost blockers appear as soon as they are placed to make it clear that the attack is blocked.
