These earbuds promise a lot of improvements, but the price is still high
If there’s a name associated with premium audio, it’s Sennheiser. The company has made waves in the audio space for decades, and more recently, it’s been known for making great headphones and earbuds with great sound quality. Released in 2020, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 remain one of the best earbuds you can buy today, with serviceable ANC and Very rich sound. It’s been two years since its release, which means it’s time for an update. Meet the Momentum True Wireless 3, the next entry in the company’s line of wireless earbuds. They have a lot of improvements compared to the 2020 generation.

Sennheiser says the product sets a new standard for sound quality and active noise cancellation. They look nothing like their predecessors, in line with Samsung and Sony offerings, with a more rounded and less industrial design.
There are 7nm German dynamic drivers for deep, detailed stereo audio. You can also customize your experience with the new sound personalization feature. The Smart Control app also offers equalizers and a range of presets to choose from. They feature “next-level” active noise cancellation, with the earbuds constantly checking for ambient sound and adjusting the ANC accordingly. If you need to turn it off, it’s easy to do with just one tap. They also have touch gestures, so you can quickly skip songs or invoke the Google Assistant without touching the phone.
Momentum True Wireless 3 supports a range of codecs including AAC, SBC and aptX Adaptive for the lowest possible latency. Each earbud comes with three microphones so you can sound great on calls. As for the battery, you can expect 7 hours of listening time, while the charging case can go up to 28 hours.
Overall, these headphones look like solid competitors to the Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds in terms of quality and features, which is a good thing considering the price — at $250 MSRP, more than Sennheiser originally asked for $300 is a notch cheaper than its predecessor. However, that’s still a lot of money for earbuds. However, if you want the best ears and don’t mind the price, these look like good options.
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 are up for pre-order now, and they’ll be available in Black, Graphite, and White on May 10.
