Sykkuno, a streamer known for his work with groups such as OfflineTV and streamers such as Valkyrae, announced Monday its move from Twitch to YouTube. The popular streamer is one of the platform’s top creators with over 4 million followers and one of the highest-paid streamers on Twitch as of October 2021. During his first YouTube exclusive on Monday night, the creator spoke more about what led him to leave Twitch. Sykkuno said he felt Twitch didn’t “appreciate” him, revealing that a Twitch employee wrote in an official email. The email misspelled his livestream name.
During the stream, Sykkuno shared a screenshot of an email he received from Twitch. The subject of the email is: Twitch x Sukkuno Agreement.
“I’m supposed to be the 28th highest paid creator on the platform — the 45th most followed ever on the platform — and they call me ‘Sukkuno’ in their official email,” he said. “I mean, maybe I’m too conceited, but I’m shocked.”
Going to YouTube wasn’t an obvious choice, and it was a “very, very difficult” decision, Sykkuno said. He grew his audience on Twitch, where he met fellow peers and friends like Ludwig Ahgren. Also, the differences between Twitch and YouTube’s deals aren’t that huge. YouTube didn’t give him more money, but the offer came at a better time — although Sykkuno said it wasn’t a huge draw for him. In the end, Sykkuno said he chose YouTube because the company “gives me a better offer. They spelled my name right, which is a big plus.”
Polygon reached out to Twitch for comment. A representative for the company said, “Out of respect for the privacy of all involved, we do not comment on individual creators/cases.”
Sykkuno is a mild-mannered and shy variety show host.He started streaming on OfflineTV my world server and has grown to become one of the most recognizable names in content creation. “Guys, I wasn’t appreciated there. They couldn’t even spell my name correctly. So I started thinking, I’m going to take [the YouTube] trade. Earlier in the stream, he also mentioned not being invited to Twitch Rivals — barring two exceptions when his friends host events — even though his stream is friendly to all ages and advertisers It’s good, but he doesn’t feel valued. Sykkuno said: “I’m willing to work harder for less money because I think I love Twitch so much, but they can’t even spell my name correctly. ”
