Together with Tianmei Studio, Lightspeed Studio is one of Tencent’s largest studios. The studio, which has offices around the world, has signed PUBG Mobile (with Krafton) and Apex Legends Mobile (with Electronic Arts) in particular. With Code: To Jin Yong, the studio launched its first Unreal Engine 5 game. No platform has been announced yet, but the game appears to be aimed at a multi-platform release and most importantly intends to spread the good stuff around the world wuxia characters, the ancient Chinese martial arts.
As the name suggests, the game will also be based on the works of Jin Yong, a popular Chinese author whose novels were written between 1955 and 1972 and have been adapted several times in film and television. As such, fans will find fictional heroes like Yang Guo, Guo Jing, and Linghu Chong in this title, intended as a showcase of Lightspeed Studios’ technology, especially in real places like Huashan’s faithful digitization.
Given the first well-choreographed demo, there’s nothing obvious, it’s not smooth at all, and it hasn’t yet offered a glimpse of the open world the developers have announced. We know nothing is final here, and the game has many years to go. Meanwhile, Lightspeed Studios plans to bring in martial arts experts to best embody the moves detailed in Jin Yong’s novel.
