To say the least, Metroid: Other M It’s a different take on the classic franchise. Nintendo handed over major development to Team Ninja, the team behind Ninja Gaiden. The title also puts more emphasis on the story than in past entries. Ultimately, it won a mixed response.
As it turns out, former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fels-Aime originally had high hopes for the title.in the latest episode A bit of a fun game broadcast, He specifically noted that Metroid: The Other M didn’t hit the mass market as he initially expected.
Reflecting on Metroid: The Other M, Reggie says:
“I really thought that was going to be the defining moment of the Metroid series. It offered more perspective on Sams. I really thought that was going to be a killer moment in franchise history, but it wasn’t. It There was no delivery – no commercial results and it really didn’t touch the players the way we hoped it would.
Interestingly, I was in a large group session, had a strategy session with (Satoru) Iwata and (Shigeru) Miyamoto and the game developers and we discussed why not. I have always been an arrogant American. I’m the guy who will say what I believe to be the truth and try to help the business move forward. My point to the developers is that it took me way too long to understand the meat and potatoes of this game. For the first five hours of the game, you’re a bit planning. Not a lot of returns, a lot of dialogue and I’m sure I annoyed people in the room. But the learning here is that players want to get into this faster. Yes, from a tutorial point of view, we need to do some elements to help them understand the game mechanics, but you need to do it faster. Hopefully this advice has a little impact on the developers in the room. “
Metroid: Other M was Nintendo’s closing announcement at E3 2009. It will continue to be released in August 2010.
