Remember the Palm PVG 100E, a smartphone that could fit in the palm of your hand? Unihertz, a Chinese manufacturer also known for its very compact Android smartphones, has just launched the Unihertz Jelly 2E in the US. This 3-inch smartphone is only 170 euros.

Many people probably know Unihertz for its Android smartphones with hardware keyboards. In 2017, these were still sold on Kickstarter as a priority. The most striking example is the Unihertz Titan Slim, which looks just like a BlackBerry.
Jelly 2E is available from October 31, 2022. You can buy it from the manufacturer’s official store for $199.99 or around €200. The manufacturer offers an introductory offer with an immediate discount of $20. On the Unihertz website it says the product can be shipped to the EU and you can pay via PayPal or Google Pay.
On this model, Unihertz offers a small 3-inch screen with a resolution of 854 x 480p. The processor is a MediaTek Helio A22 SoC with four cores (Cortex-A53) with a maximum frequency of 2 GHz. Onboard PowerVR GE8300 GPU.

The Unihertz Jelly 2E has a 2000 mAh battery. According to the manufacturer, it should last 3 days on smartphone standby with music playing continuously at 9:30am.
The Unihertz Jelly 2E includes 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. However, the latter can be expanded via a microSD card by losing the second nano-SIM slot. The “little” strong points in my opinion are the IR blaster and the jack. Jelly 2E provides dedicated programmable PTT keys. The only downside is that there is no NFC for contactless payments.
What do you think of this 110-gram little device? Does it seem suitable for everyday use?
