During a livestream from Nico Nico Chokaigi in Japan, new Ryu Ga Gotoku studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama provided a small development update for the next Yakuza game.
Mr. Yokoyama said that development is progressing steadily, the writing team is currently busy with the climax of the story, and some actors have already started recording.
While he hasn’t been able to say when the game will release, he also mentioned that there may be more information this year.
As he just said, he also confirmed that the studio is working on more than one game, even if not all of them have actually been announced.
In previous interviews, he had mentioned that the title of “Ryulong 8” was tentative, and he had not yet confirmed the official name.
We also already know that the protagonist is still Kasuga Ichiban who debuted in “Like a Dragon 7”, and the western title is “Like a Dragon Like a Dragon”.
Following the departure of Mingyue Junhong, the senior management of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio was reorganized and created his own Mingyue Studio under NetEase.
Meanwhile, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC, and you can read our review.
