Do you belong to the irreducible niche of users who still and always resist large smartphones and prefer compact smartphones? Good news, Asus has just confirmed the release date of its next-generation compact 5.9-inch flagship Zenfone 9.
- ASUS Zenfone 9 will be launched in France on July 28, 2022
- ASUS’ launch event will take place at 3pm French time
- Zenfone 9 will be a compact but powerful flagship with a very high-end SoC
Pre-orders are to discover the Asus Zenfone 9 on Thursday, July 28. Asus’ flagship series is not as mainstream as Samsung or Xiaomi. But every year, the Asus Zenfone offers great value for money, and best of all, since the Zenfone 8, this compact form factor doesn’t sacrifice performance.
Asus has yet to confirm any official information on the specs of its next flagship smartphone. But the manufacturer’s promotional video leaked at the beginning of July, where we can find the main technical elements of the Zenfone 9.
As such, the Zenfone 9 will be powered by Qualcomm’s high-end SoC, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is the same ROG Phone 6 Pro I recently tested. We’ll also find a 4300 mAh battery, a dual photo module carried by a Sony IMX766 sensor, with a “gimbal” module, definitely for image stabilization like we’ve seen on the Vivo X60 Pro.
The Amoled screen measures 5.9 inches diagonally and has a 120Hz refresh rate. In the leaked video, we can also see references to Zentouch technology, which converts the power and unlock buttons into touch buttons that slide and scroll through information on the screen.
Finally, the Zenfone 9 will be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, and it will also include two stereo speakers and a 3.5mm jack. The four colors visible in the leak — red, blue, taupe, black — also look cool.
What do you think of the alleged Asus Zenfone 9 specs? Although it didn’t really catch on after the iPhone 13 mini, do you think compact smartphones are still relevant?
