Just yesterday, we showed you images of all four iPhone 14 front panels originally posted on Weibo. The images allegedly come from leaks inside Apple’s supply chain and confirm a few things. The panel shows that there will be no iPhone mini this year after the phone sold so badly last year. Instead, as expected, Apple will release two 6.1-inch phones and two 6.7-inch models.
The 2022 iPhone lineup will include the iPhone 14 (6.1 inches), iPhone 14 Max (6.7 inches), iPhone 14 Pro (6.1 inches) and iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7 inches). Leaks suggest the Pro variant will have a new “i-shaped” cutout in place of the notch, which will still be found on the non-Pro variant of the phone. The Pro model will be slightly taller, with more rounded corners and thinner, symmetrical bezels.
Apple’s rumored decision to reuse the A15 Bionic chipset may backfire and may not be well received by consumers
One of the most contentious issues swirling around the iPhone 14 series has to do with the chipsets that Apple reportedly plans to deploy on the new phones. While the Pro variant is expected to feature the new 4nm A16 Bionic, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are expected to feature last year’s 5nm A15 Bionic.

If you thought Apple would lower the price of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max because they will be powered by last year’s chipsets, guess again. Still, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman notes that for the new lineup, non-Pro buyers will now be able to buy the iPhone with the largest screen, and expects this year’s 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max to be about $200 cheaper than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. same size monitor.
Based on Gurman’s review and the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s starting price of $1,099, the iPhone 14 Max could cost $899, which is an attractive price for the 6.7-inch non-Pro model. But previous leaks called for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to start at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively. If so, we could see prices starting at $799 for the iPhone 14, $999 for the iPhone 14 Max, $1,099 for the iPhone 14 Pro, and $1,199 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Apple seeks to widen the gap between iPhone Pro and non-Pro models
Apple has been looking to widen the gap between non-Pro and Pro models, which is why a 48MP camera sensor is expected to appear on pricier models alongside a 120Hz ProMotion display. Other differences include replacing the notch on the Pro unit with an “i-shaped” cutout. But asking iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max users to accept Apple’s plan to reuse the A15 Bionic may be asking too much.
This is the bottom line. If Apple priced the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max at $999, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro with a new “i-shaped” cutout, 48MP camera, bigger battery, and more power might cost as little as $100. And an energy-efficient chipset, and a ProMotion screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. For $200 more, you can get the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max with all the features found on the iPhone 14 Pro, but with a bigger battery and screen.
Considering you can fund your purchase for 36 months without interest from major carriers, we’re talking about an increase of $2.77-$5.54 per month from the iPhone 14 Max to the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max, consumers may This will be the toughest buying decision when trying to pick an iPhone 14 model that fits their needs, wants and budget.
The iPhone 14 series will likely be released in early September, with pre-orders starting a few days later and a release later that month. That leaves plenty of time for more leaks, renders, and hints to cross our desks before the iPhone 14 lineup is announced in about 135 days. stay tuned!
