Google’s next big event is just a few days away
We’re just a few days away from Google I/O, and we’re very excited. There’s no shortage of rumors about what to expect this year, from shiny new hardware to Android 13’s clearest vision yet. Just like last year, this year’s Google I/O is a virtual event, so everyone can participate in any talk, discussion, or keynote that interests them. Don’t get me wrong: there’s a lot to like this year beyond the main event.
We’ve covered a slew of notable events, from “what’s new for Android” to talks focusing on some interesting changes to the back button, and it all sounds promising. “What’s new in Google Pay” seems to reveal all those weird “wallet” noises we’ve seen over the past month or so. In the meantime, an event on Google Home could have some huge implications for your smart home tech — especially as we continue to wait for the long-delayed Matter launch.

But we’re not going to pretend that the annual keynote wasn’t the most exciting part of Google I/O. Not only does this cover a wide range of topics — including ones that touch on many key discussions — but it’s also where we’re likely to see hardware announcements. Pixel 6a, Pixel Watch, maybe even the new Chromecast – if it’s at Google I/O, it’s in the keynote.
So, how much I/O will you be tuning this year? Are you going to go all out as a virtual attendee, or will you skip everything but the keynote? Maybe you won’t watch it at all this year – in which case the staff at Android Police will keep you updated with any breaking news throughout the week. Google I/O kicks off with a keynote on Wednesday at 1:00 pm ET.
