challenge challenge. Dysfunctional Battle Pass. A bunch of “fixes” that didn’t work in the end. The cacophony of player feedback, most of which are not positive.it sounds like Halo Infinitebut no: this is Halo Infinite Today, six months after its launch, in the first week of its second season.
Halo Infinite, released last fall for Xbox and PC, is the first free-to-play game in the series of shooters. It’s chock-full of many of the standard features of this mod, including a “seasonal” structure (with new stuff looping into the game every few months) and a level 100 battle pass. You can complete the Battle Pass by completing specific missions called “Challenges,” which proved controversial at the start.
On Tuesday, developer 343 Industries launched its second season Halo Infinite. Known as “Lone Wolf”, it immediately added a lot of new features. Three new modes — a reimagining of the fan-favorite King of the Hill, the return of the fan-favorite Attrition, and the final Spartan Stand, the introduction of a battle royale-lite — have launched, and More. The Battle Pass is filled with some truly inspired cosmetic options. There’s no denying that it’s fantastic to see your personal bespoke Spartan soldier in well-choreographed cutscenes. The new hall music is OMG level awesome. There’s a lot to like here, and a lot to sort through, which is why the update needs a full catalog to dig deeper.
There’s still a lot to do, according to the most dedicated players as well as some fans looking to return to key changes no picture.
“It’s hard not to feel like this update contains surprising ‘fixes’ that are deliberately aimed at a fast-running and competitive community with no room for discussion or compromise,” Taras, a halo– Dedicated content creator known as LateNightGaming on YouTube, told small house.
Many of the loudest complaints were about the final Spartan stand-up challenge. A free-to-play genre set on a large map, The Last Spartan Standing gives you five lives, with no other options during a round. Once you are out, you are out for the rest of the match, at which point you can watch other players or exit the multiplayer lobby. A pop-up notification will say you can leave without being challenged, but players say this is unreliable at best.
To some, your challenge doesn’t seem to be making progress. For others, you can successfully complete the challenge but still don’t seem to register any progress for the two active battle passes. (Now, in addition to the standard level 100 battle pass, there’s a secondary “event” battle pass. When completed, the Last Spartan Standing Challenge will let you progress on both.)

“Don’t leave your game!” one player warn. other shared experience Completed missions don’t actually show as completed unless they wait for the match to end.some, go to picture, share meme. While technical issues on launch day are not uncommon in the video game world, of course, this isn’t your typical day-one launch: it’s entering the game’s life cycle significantly, and the player base has slowly dwindled over the months, and not only It’s to stop the bleeding, and it’s to guide lost players to rejoin.
Personally, I had some progress issues on launch night. I even tried 343’s recommendation (restart the game) to no avail.Random, a few games after me knowledge I completed the prerequisites for some challenges that showed as completed, but I still didn’t unlock any of the levels on the event battle pass. After an hour or so, I did it. Strange.
That same night, 343 Industries released a hotfix Failed challenges in both The Last of Spartans and the typical Free-For-All playlist, but some players still say the problem still exists.Last night, 343 Industry 2nd hotfix released Intended to solve the same problem that the first one claimed to solve, which showed that the first one didn’t work 100% as expected. Time will tell if the second one is successful.
Regardless, as long as The Last of Spartans doesn’t immediately record challenge progress, players are still (understandably) unsure. So, really, you have two choices: risk losing progress in the challenge (not ideal!) or sit back and watch each game play out (zz…).
The launch of the second season also appears to have distorted some basic game mechanics. Inexplicably, this week’s massive update is now apparently causing some guns to get stuck.Austin Meekwen, professional gamer halo player, quote This mistake was the number one reason he avoided the game for now. Originally Tyler “Spartan” Ganza from Pro Team eUnited direction A jammed combat rifle is one reason he’s happy to rest Halo Infinite after the big event. (eUnited finished fourth at the HCS Kansas City Main Championship last weekend.) After finally joining the race, he criticized the update, call it “A fucking fat L” and “It’s so fucking pathetic.”
ganza said he pivoted go play Pokémon.

At least on the 343’s radar this can be solved: halo Senior Community Manager John Junyszek said The development team is investigating this issue. Major features planned for the second season, including support for co-op in the game’s campaign, were delayed until later in the summer, a decision the studio attributed to preemptive measures to avoid putting developers on long overtime.
“I know things are going to get better, I know they’re going to improve, I know the development team at 343 cares, I know these bugs and issues hurt them as much as they hurt us,” NadeGod, a halo Content creators who stream on YouTube and Twitch tell small house. “but [as] As with any live serve game, it all takes time. “
“We can only hope Halo Infinite be the next top notch or sea of thievesinstead of the next National anthem,” he added.
The launch of the second season also came with some disappointments that weren’t obvious mistakes, but were actually intentional choices with prior notice. Well-informed players know them well; they just don’t fully anticipate the extent to which certain changes will affect the game.
In this week’s tome patch notes, two lines stand out for high-skilled players: “The speed gained by the slide on a ramp is reduced proportionally to the height of the fall” and “Remove or adjust props and thin walls” Collision on the shelf”. “
These lines refer to the removal of “skill jumps” or paths in multiplayer maps that may not technically be official or intended, but still allow you to use shortcuts. When used properly, they can be very helpful and are therefore the cornerstone of high-level play. On the Streets map, a popular game involves bouncing off an awning and climbing a ledge, otherwise you’ll need to walk halfway around the map.is now done, although the player already trying Design alternative routes.
Now I have to wrestle with whether I should teach people what I love in this game. — Alexander “Shyway” Hope
On Twitter, Tommy “Lucid” Wilson, arguably the best Halo Infinite Players in the world now, detailed Six specific such jumps were removed, with the words: “Who asked for one of these?”
Literally no one, from the pro Alexander “Shyway” Hope halo Moderator and analyst. These athletic skills have no ‘negative impact’ on casual players, Hope says small houseAt the same time, the best players in the game almost certainly know them well and have adjusted their playstyle to compensate. (watch any halo Pro events from the first season, you’ll see pro players use skill jumps freely on basically every map. )grateful Halo InfiniteThe skill-based matchmaking of ‘s is also unheard of, and players who know skill jumps will end up in matches against players who don’t, so it’s not like their addition will cause any balance imbalance.
If anything, tinkering with skill-hopping out of the game doesn’t do anything other than obliterate strategies honed over the past six months and agreed upon by the community.
“There is no urgent need to remove [their] impact,” Hope said. “At the very least, I think there should be an open discussion about a change like this, and insights from the most dedicated members of the fan base should be considered. “
It’s not just unlimited‘s multiplayer mode; this week’s patch removes the most prominent speedrun tech Halo Infiniteelection campaign.
Before the patch, if you were standing on top of a fusion coil (an exploding barrel), you could grab it towards you, and it would launch you to extreme distances. Now you just pick it up as if it were any other gear. The patch also removes the “Scorpion Gun”, allowing players to use a portable version of the tank cannon… which happens to have infinite ammo.Nader further told small house This week’s patch also removes a bug that allowed you to commandeer the Pelican Dropship… which happens to be invulnerable. Speedrunners often combine these attacks to sprint the entire movement.
“I do think these changes should be reverted or at least discussed with the community,” Taalas said.
This is the general feeling Halo Infinite Community: 343 Industries is implementing changes according to what they think is best, not what the most loyal players want. halo The game keeps saying “Oh my God, you can Do That? ” moment (zooming out of bounds mountains Halo 2Or find the devastating scarab gun Halo 3). With this update, Halo Infinite There are fewer such moments now.
“Why, when the game has so little content, do I feel like the most passionate and dedicated part of the fan base is being attacked without proper reasoning or transparency?” Hope said. “Why not just focus on adding content and solving existing problems that are really holding back the success of this game?”
In a blog post ahead of the launch of Season 2, 343 Industries detailed the modes it expects to launch in the coming months. Much of the focus has been on describing Last Spartan Standing, but 343 also describes some genres that sound like killers — including a killer variant that lets everyone have unlimited ammo rocket launchers… .
