Apple is reportedly planning to release the second-generation AirPods Pro this fall, rumored to feature a new design, improved audio quality, and some possible health integrations. Bloomberg Mark Gurman.
As Gurman wrote in his latest Power On newsletter:
Look for new AirPods Pro in the fall. The current model has been on the market since fall 2019, so for some early adopters, the battery may already be in trouble. Also look out for a new color update for the AirPods Max (we’re hoping for a price drop – $550 for these earphones is absurd).
The AirPods Pro have not been updated since their launch in 2019, and multiple rumors suggest a launch this year. Gurman’s claims about the fall release are in line with information previously shared by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said it will be released in the second half of the year. The new “AirPods Pro” could feature a more compact design with visible stems, plus a new charging case and lossless audio support for the new protocol.
As for the AirPods Max, Apple is not expected to develop the second-generation in-ear headphones that will launch in December 2020. Instead, Apple is thought to be working on new color options. Today, Gurman said the new color is still in development, but did not provide a timeline for when it will be released.
